Marvel continues to expand its horizon of the Multiverse. Not only will they be debuting the Echo series in 2024, but the Madame Web movie, as well over at Sony Pictures! Now, the question is, is Madame Web a hero or a villain in the MCU? Here's everything you need to know about the Spider-Heroine.
Madame Web Powers & Origins Explained
Madame Web, whose real name is Cassandra Webb, was born in Salem, Oregon. Despite her medical condition of being blind and having a crippled body, her superpowers involve telepathy, astral projection, precognition, clairvoyance, and prescience.
It is also worth mentioning that Madame Web is canonically a mutant, which means, unlike Peter Parker, her powers didn't come from a radioactive spider. Some comic storylines suggest that she may be immortal.
The immortality storyline came as a result of receiving this during her attendance at the Gathering of the Five.
The official Madame Web movie trailer depicted one of Cassandra's earliest superpowers in the MCU, which is getting to see short bits about her future.
The film will involve her saving three young girls, one of whom happens to be Julia Carpenter (Sydney Sweeney), who will eventually take her role as the next Madame Web.
Does Madame Web Have Any Weaknesses?
In the Marvel Comics, she had been depicted as a blind woman from birth, while also suffering from a neurological condition called myasthenia gravis.
While both conditions could have been rendered as her weaknesses, she doesn't let her lack of sight and flexibility cloud her superpowers and abilities from reaching her full potential and helping Spider-Man now and then.

Is Madame Web a Hero or a Villain?
As seen in Marvel Comics, Madame Web is very much a Spider heroine in the stories. First making her appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 in 1980, she had been assisting Peter Parker in his endeavors.
Now, with the Madame Web coming to fruition in 2024, Dakota Johnson is seen saving these three girls, and if the film decides to lead to Cassandra's death, Sweeney will be the next to take the lead from her.
Did Madame Web Die?
If you can recall, one of Spider-Man's deadliest foes will soon be coming to fruition on the big screens, Kraven the Hunter.
In the canon storyline of The Grim Hunt in the comics, Kraven the Hunter crosses paths with Madame Web in the most unexpected way. The Kravinoff family intended to resurrect Kraven and kill Spider-Man by utilizing Madame Web.
However, before Cassandra met her demise, she was able to transfer her psychic powers to Julia Carpenter, which would lead to her becoming the new Madame Web.
What remains to be seen is whether the Marvel film seeks to depict just that as a part of the origin story. Not to mention, Madame Web is technically old, so it's a wonder why Dakota was chosen for the role.
Many have claimed that Dakota being Cassandra is to show that the titular Spider heroine is immortal, thus gaining a youthful physical form in the MCU.

Who is the Main Villain in the Madame Web Movie? Introducing Ezekiel Sims
Marvel's Madame Web has not only unleashed our first official trailer and looks on the upcoming MCU cast, but even the main villain whom we'll be highly anticipating to grace the big screens in 2024.
Meet Ezekiel Sims. Portrayed by Tahar Rahim, he wears the black and red Spider-Man-like suit, whose powers terrify those he could touch, unlike the friendly neighborhood Spidey we know.
Cassandra seems to be familiar with Ezekiel, considering that she even had a photo taken with him in the past. Although we'll have to wait how he is related to the titular Spider heroine once the movie releases.
Ezekiel Sims' Powers and Connection to Spider-Man Explained
As for who Ezekiel is, he made his debut in 2001's Amazing Spider-Man #30 where his fate tied in with Peter Parker's origins. In the comics, he is connected to Spider-Totem, which could also include the concept of the Web of Life in Madame Web.
It is through this that we get to weave in the modern Spider-Verse storyline from Sony. According to the comics, Ezekiel ended up being bonded with the Spider-Totem, through which a multiversal vampire caught his attention.
Because of this, he felt he had the responsibility to protect everything connected to the Web of Life, which happens to include Peter Parker.
Ezekiel's powers gave him wall-crawling abilities (similar to Spider-Man as seen in the trailer), enhanced strength and speed, as well as his very own Spidey senses.
But what makes him scarier and stronger is his possession of the mystical arts, which could pit him up against Doctor Strange's Sorcerer Supreme powers.
