Is Jujutsu Kaisen Worth Watching? The supernatural horror shōnen anime series of Jujutsu Kaisen brings about the thrill and suspense mixed up in one anime series giving a different taste to anime fans and viewers with curses, occult, and mystery happening all at once.

With the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series about to end in a few days, it is not too late to catch up with Crunchyroll's anime of the year as there is still time left before the finale arrives. MAPPA-produced anime series easily drew various fans and viewers, especially those who love supernatural horror and suspense.

The anime series is from the pages of the Japanese supernatural shōnen manga series of the same name by Gege Akutami published in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 2018. It also has a light novel series. In January 2021, Jujutsu Kaisen manga ranked second in Oricon's weekly manga ranking.

The story follows an occult-loving student, Yuji Itadori, and his fateful encounter with a powerful curse, Sukuna, where to save his friends in school, he became the bearer of Sukuna which gave him extraordinary powers of a curse despite being possessed by one at the same time, and because of this, he passes the point of no return so he has to train with a secret group of sorcerers.

His training would be for him to be able to properly utilize his newly gained powers and be able to use it to be able to defeat other curses that are attracted to the school where they are in.

The anime series has been high with ratings and is a consistent chart-topper since the inception of the show. With the story opening a new chapter in the manga series with the Death Painting arc and it only has one episode left, the chance of Jujutsu Kaisen scoring a second season is quite high and could have another 24 episodes to run the whole anime series.

Still not interested enough and convinced to watch Jujutsu Kaisen? Here are some reasons why Jujutsu Kaisen is worth-watching.

Jujustu Kaisen Uses Horror

There are not many animes that have the perfect blend of horror, action, and adventure but Jujutsu Kaisen happens to have just the right mix to deliver. Sorcerers versus curses using cursed magic against the evils of human malice could seem like too much but as for Jujutsu Kaisen, they balance all these powerful elements that it has an amazing product.

Jujutsu Kaisen's Animation

The fluidity of the animation of Jujutsu Kaisen translates so much that it can be at par with other chart-topping animes. There are so much grace and seamlessness in the animation that the anime is almost so visually aesthetic and horrifying at the same time. The color grade of the scenes, the interaction of the characters, kudos to MAPPA for the stellar animation of the series.

Jujutsu Kaisen's Unseen Enemy

Death seems to be always around the corner making it an effective unseen enemy that anyone can die at any moment. The anime series has so much death, it couldn't be counted with all ten fingers. Deaths can happen to anyone from the characters to even civilians. More than that, the mystery lies until the end making the viewers think about how it happened and it uses such to tinker with the minds of the viewers giving justification of what just happened.

Jujustu Kaisen's Pace

It doesn't even give us time to breathe, it cuts to the chase and goes straight to where it would be going. I mean, Yuji gets possessed on the very first episode, some animes would even wait for a longer time to drop such a bomb to the viewers but Jujutsu Kaisen doesn't. It uses time skips to go past the parts that would not be able to catch up with its pace.

Jujutsu Kaisen's Action

There are a lot of fight scenes in the anime series that we lost count of. It adds to the excitement, the suspense, the thrill, especially with death just looming. Every fight scene gives the viewers a jump off their seats and holding on wishing the character the like wouldn't die in the process. And the introduction of new characters is more often than not from a fight scene. Props to that!

Jujutsu Kaisen's Villains

The villains here are just so vile, there is no trace of being relatable at all. You'd hate them from the moment you see them making them so effective. There is no hesitation for them to easily kill your favorite character just because they feel like it. You wouldn't ever have second thoughts on rooting for them as they are just so evil.

Jujutsu Kaisen's Complexity

To admit, complexity can get confusing at times but for Jujutsu Kaisen, it adds the right amount just to put enough flavor on the whole show. It makes the audience wonder and thinks about how it happens. It gives the tickle to the mind enough to keep us watching in hopes of finally fully understanding the complex situations.

Jujutsu Kaisen's Characters

In every episode, every character seems to have some growth or something new to show. Don't get me started with Yuji, I mean, he's the main protagonist of the show and on the very first episode, he already did something so big of a sacrifice that it gives a shocker for most. The character development and growth give so much for the fans and viewers to enjoy the anime series.

Why do you think Jujutsu Kaisen is worth-watching? Whatever your reason may be, the bottom line is that Jujutsu Kaisen is one anime series that is both scary and enjoyable at the same time.

Jujutsu Kaisen airs every Friday via Crunchyroll.
