After the success of Demon Slayer Season 2, fans of the fantasy and adventure anime have been patiently waiting for the series' third installment. Now that Season 3 is confirmed and even set to have a US and Canadian theatrical release in March 2023, does this mean that Demon Slayer Season 3 is a movie?

Alongside the release date, it was also announced that Season 3 will cover the Swordsmith Village arc which is the ninth arc in the series.

No, Demon Slayer Season 3 is not a movie as it will be a weekly series, just like the previous seasons of Demon Slayer.

Some fans might have been confused as the official Demon Slayer USA Twitter account announced that the upcoming season will have a theatrical release.

The cinema release will be a one-hour special that will cover Episodes 10 and 11 of Demon Slayer Season 2 and Episode 1 of Season 3.

Below is the trailer for the upcoming season, featuring the main character Tanjiro, Mitsuri, the Love Hashira, and Muichiro, the Mist Hashira.

While waiting for the official release of the third season, fans can read the Demon Slayer manga in the meantime as it was completed in 2020 with 23 volumes.

It is widely known that the anime adapted the manga faithfully so fans will not be disappointed with the upcoming season.

The third season of Demon Slayer will start to be shown on February 3, 2023, in 418 theaters in Japan.

Meanwhile, below are the release dates for other international cities and territories:

  • February 25 – Paris
  • February 26 – Berlin
  • March 3 – United States
  • March 4 – Mexico City
  • March 11 – Seoul

The upcoming release will have a Japanese and English dubbed version for all fans to enjoy.

It was also announced that the voice actors and creators of Demon Slayer will attend some of the said events.

Furthermore, the theatrical release will be available in more than 80 countries worldwide.
