Recent events in The Eminence in Shadow raise a question: is Aurora alive? While Cid Kagenou theoretically eliminated her in Season 1, there's evidence that shows the Witch of Calamity may return.

Did Aurora Die in The Eminence in Shadow Season 1?
Toward the end of The Eminence in Shadow Season 1, Aurora disappears, presumably dying.
Aurora was an antagonist in the first season of the isekai anime. During the Goddess' Trial, Cid summoned her, thinking she would be a sufficiently difficult opponent for him to show off.
To his surprise, he was able to defeat her easily, as she couldn't use her full strength.
However, this wasn't the end of their encounter, as Cid soon accessed her Sanctuary and discovered the memory prison where Aurora was trapped.
It turned out that Aurora wasn't as helpless as she seemed. She and the demon Diablos, whose name inspired the cult, are one and the same person.
When Cid annihilated the Sanctuary, Aurora disappeared, suggesting that she died. But things are a bit more complicated than that.
Is Aurora Alive in The Eminence in Shadow?
The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 reveals that Aurora is alive, or that, at least, her will lives on in some form.
During the vampire incident, Aurora appears to Claire Kagenou, Cid's sister. When Claire gets seriously wounded in her attempt to save Cid from the Blood Queen Elizabeth, Aurora possesses Claire's body.
This gives Claire a new set of powers and abilities that allow her to fend off Elizabeth until Shadow's arrival.
The Eminence in Shadow manga readers will know that Aurora indirectly comes up again in Episode 7 of Season 2 when Delta finds a mysterious item in the snow.
This is later revealed to be a red gem that contains some of Aurora's power. If Aurora reaches it, alone or through Claire, she may be able to do ominous things with it.
In the beginning, Claire is not fully aware that she is possessed. In Chapter 58 of the manga, though, she meets Princess Alexia to discuss her suspicions.
Since the Red Moon incident, Claire bears an arcane mark on her hand. Already, she suspects that it has to do with Aurora, telling Alexia that the Witch of Calamity may have been amongst them all along.
She and Alexia agree to investigate further, concluding that, while Aurora may not currently be alive in her physical form, she may return for good.
