After the official trailer for Chainsaw Man was released, Aki Hayakawa became an internet sensation. This only means that he is one of the most beloved characters in the series, which explains why Aki became the talk of the town. But is Aki really dead in Chainsaw Man?

Aki is a public safety devil hunter with a personal vendetta against the Gun Devil. Makima hired him under her division, and he became Himeno's partner. Years later, Aki joined forces with Denji and Power and began living together like a really chaotic family.

In Chainsaw Man, Aki is killed by Denji's Chainsaw Devil.

Aki and Denji initially despised each other. Aki did not recognize Denji's motivations for becoming a devil hunter. According to Aki, Denji's reasons are shallow, and he will die sooner rather than later.

They eventually make amends as they begin living with Power and hunting devils from one case to the next. Even if he doesn't show it, Aki regards Denji and Power as family. Denji and Power become the brother and sister Aki yearns for in his unit.

Aki's family died at the hands of the Gun Devil when he was a child, and he was the only survivor in his family. Since then, Aki has harbored deep resentment towards the Gun Devil.

He began training and eventually joined Makima's special squad. However, the Gun Devil has vanished, leaving only fragments for Aki to collect.

Later in life, Aki's obsession with vengeance costs him his life. From working with the Future Devil to the Curse Devil, Aki sacrifices some of his life to exact his bittersweet revenge.

In Chainsaw Man, Aki is indeed dead.

When Aki and the Angel Devil found Makima on the beach, the Angel Devil had a feeling something was wrong.

While Aki is smiling for Makima, the latter eventually blows her cover and tells Aki to give up everything for her sake.

While the Angel Devil fought, Aki succumbed to the powers of Makima's Control Devil. However, the Angel Devil's abilities are insufficient to overcome Makima. The Angel Devil joined Aki in becoming Makima's pawn.

The Gun Devil reappears in Japan, unleashing its power to kill Makima. During the battle with the Gun Devil, Makima used Aki and the other devil hunters' bodies to shield herself.

While the fight was not shown entirely, it is implied that Makima defeated the Gun Devil and allowed it to possess Aki's deceased body.

Aki later became a Gun Fiend and appeared in front of his own apartment unit. He fought against Denji's Chainsaw Devil and eventually died.

In his mind, however, Aki only sees a snowball fight with Denji.

There are no known ways for Aki to return in Chainsaw Man, much like Himeno. For the time being, Aki is effectively dead in the series.

However, this does not rule out the possibility of Aki making a cameo appearance in the manga's future events.

Aki would most likely appear only as a memory for Denji and the others to reflect on.

Nonetheless, the Chainsaw Man anime will be released in October, and the anticipation is palpable!

Prepare to see Denji, the Chainsaw Devil, in action alongside Aki, Himeno, Makima, Power, and the other devil hunters in Chainsaw Man when it arrives in the fall!
