There is little doubt that Chainsaw Man is the most highly anticipated anime of the year. One of the reasons for this is that there are speculations that the animated series will adapt the all chapters of the manga's first part.
For now, it is still unclear if the rumors about a full manga adaptation are true. However, MAPPA CEO Manabu Otsuka is teasing the possibility by hyping up how the Gun Devil arc will be adapted in the Chainsaw Man anime.
In the manga, the Gun Devil arc takes place directly after the events in the International Assassins arc where the Devil Hunters suffered a massive blow. The story arc follows the survivors as they deal with the aftermath of the destruction and readers got to see a different side of Denji, Power, and Aki Hayakawa.
It's a great story arc but also a tragic one and it is mostly featured in Chainsaw Man Volume 9. Not surprisingly, MAPPA CEO Manabu Otsuka admitted to Comicbook.com that the Gun Devil arc is the one he is most excited about in the anime.
"For me, I believe Volume 9 really stands out, and I read it over and over again. It gives an interesting look at the relationships between Chainsaw Man's characters and how they respond to one another," Otsuka said. "It's really great to see how the relationships developed, so the whole movement of the series' character arcs from the beginning and on is great."
We won't spoil anything but Chainsaw Man Volume 9 is set to be one of the most heartbreaking parts of the manga. With that in mind, we can't wait for the anime to premiere later this year.
The Chainsaw Man anime will premiere in October 2022. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
