One of the things that fans look forward to in Black Mirror is its storyline. Since each episode has a standalone storyline, new viewers don't have to worry about catching up with previous seasons.

Unfortunately, there has been no announcement on how many episodes there'll be in Black Mirror Season 6. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Black Mirror Season 6 will have more episodes compared to the previous season, which only had three episodes.

As of May 31, 2023, Netflix announced that there will be five episodes in this season.

As an anthology series, it's been pretty hard to guess what the show is about. But it has held onto a central theme of technology and how it is being used today.

Black Mirror Season 6's logline promises that it is the most unpredictable, unexpected, and unclassifiable season yet.

Another thing that fans can look forward to this time around is that the new season will have higher production quality for each episode. This is because the show's creators were able to put up their own production company, called Broke and Bones, that Netflix took under its wing.

This is good news for avid fans, especially since they've been waiting for the show to return for almost four years.

There's also the promise that each Black Mirror episode will reinvent itself. Apparently, the four-year break gave its show creator, Charlie Brooker, a chance to reevaluate his vision for Black Mirror's future.

When the pandemic struck in 2020, Brooker shared he felt it was the wrong time to work on Black Mirror during such a devastating time. But now, the sixth season will have some changes to it.

Brooker told Tudum:

“I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people (and myself) or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself. So partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect. Consequently, this time, alongside some of the more familiar Black Mirror tropes we’ve also got a few new elements, including some I’ve previously sworn blind the show would never do, to stretch the parameters of what ‘a Black Mirror episode’ even is.”

He added:

“The stories are all still tonally Black Mirror through-and-through — but with some crazy swings and more variety than ever before. And bringing it all to life we’ve got an incredible roster of disgustingly skillful, smart directors working with a cast of actors so talented they frankly have no right to exist. I can’t wait for people to binge their way through it all and hope they enjoy it — especially the bits they shouldn’t.”

We'll update this post once more information becomes available.

The first episode we see in the trailer is Joan Is Awful, a story about an average woman who gets the shock of her life when a Netflix-like streaming platform rolled out a TV adaptation of her life.

The best part about it is that she is portrayed by none other than Salma Hayek-Pinault. The episode also stars Annie Murphy, Michael Cera, Himesh Patel, Rob Delaney, and Ben Barnes.

Interestingly, the last episode in the trailer is presented by Red Mirror. It also looks like a scary episode with a demon wearing an all-white fur disco ensemble controlling a meek sales assistant.

The episode's plot says that the assistant "is told she must commit terrible acts to prevent disaster."

The episode stars Anjana Vasan, Paapa Essiedu, Katherine Rose Morley, and David Shields.

Black Mirror Season 6 is coming out on June 15, 2023. You can watch the official trailer here:
