The Duke of Sussex revealed that the night of his proposal was typical for them—just a standard.
"Just a cozy night, it was—what were we doing? Roasting chicken and... And it was just—just an amazing surprise, it was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee,” the former actress added. "I was like, ‘Can I say yes now?'"

"It was a really nice moment, it was just the two of us, and I think I managed to catch her by surprise as well," Prince Harry chimed in.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Share Complete Details of Proposal Night
Four years after their marriage, the couple finally shared complete details of their proposal night in Harry & Meghan.
Opposite of Prince Harry’s claim that he caught his then-girlfriend by surprise, she wasn’t shocked at all.
The proposal took place in Kensington Palace’s north garden.
"I did pop a bottle of champagne while she was greasing a chicken," Prince Harry stated. "And that slightly gave the game away.
Meghan knew he didn’t drink champagne, so she asked him what the occasion was.

“I was like, 'I don't know, just had it laying around here, whatever,'" Prince Harry added.
The former Suits star sent a video to her friend, Jess, presumably Jessica Mulroney, saying, "Oh my God, Jess. It's happening…. Oh my God. He told me not to peek."
"In the north garden being overlooked by the staff flats, I got 15 of those electric candles," Prince Harry recounted.
"He's down on one knee, and I was just like, 'Yes!' I was just so joyful and excited. I was like 'Ah, we're doing this,'" Meghan added.

The Duchess of Sussex’s friend, Lucy Fraser, revealed in Harry & Meghan that the two “were so happy.”
“We had a little engagement party, and everyone was dressed in animal onesies. And Meghan and Harry were in matching penguin onesies,” she said.
