So, how does their friendship begin? Read on.

The Start of Meghan Markle and Michelle Obama's Friendship

Meghan and Michelle's friendship began when the former did the September issue of British Vogue.

At the time, the former actress asked the lawyer to do a secret project. Of course, the Becoming author said yes.

"A few 'simple questions' (which she could have answered with a sentence or two) were returned to me as a thoughtful, reflective and beautifully curated narrative—a gentle reminder not of how but of why she has become such a globally respected public figure," Meghan said, via E! News.

But aside from that, Meghan has found a true friend in Michelle.

The two have grown incredibly close since their initial sat down in London in 2018. When the former senior royal attended the FLOTUS's talk at London's Royal Festival Hall, they had a private talk, sharing a conversation after the event took place.

Michelle later told Ryan Seacrest that their casual conversation was already meticulously planned well ahead of the moment, suggesting they had been in touch for some time.

"Yeah, we're used to keep secrets," she said, per Mirror.

From there, Michelle said her piece.

"As I said before, race isn't a new construct in this world for people of color, and so it wasn't a complete surprise to hear her feelings and to have them articulated," she explained. "I think the thing that I hope for, and the thing I think about, is that this, first and foremost, is a family. I pray for forgiveness and healing for them so that they can use this as a teachable moment for us all."
