For those of you who are confused about what’s going on in Heavenly Delusion, you’re not alone. Recently, Comic Natalie shared an interview with the cast of Heavenly Delusion, and they revealed that they’re just as confused about what’s happening.

What’s more, some of them don’t even know much about the characters that they are playing.

While Demon Slayer and Oshi no Ko are the frontrunners of the season when it comes to discussions online, Heavenly Delusion (or Tengoku Daimakyou) is another anime that’s getting a lot of buzz.

This is thanks in part to the impressive animation and art style by Production I.G. Though its mysterious world and story are at the forefront of many viewers’ minds.

The show’s plot does have a direction, but there are still lots of things unexplained, including what the Heaven facility is or what the histories of the characters are.

During the interview, the cast members also remarked that they still have no idea about many of these mysteries.

In particular, Maru VA Gen Sato shared that he still has no idea who Maru is exactly and why he has his powers.

Because of this, Sato remarked that Maru is the most difficult character he has played so far as he has to convey this sense of mystery to the audience, all while being in the dark as well.

However, the cast remarked that this is one of the main things that drew them to Heavenly Delusion.

Along with their thoughts on the story, the cast members also shared an interesting story about the recording process.

Specifically, the VAs of the characters in the Heaven facility did their recordings separately from the ones in the outside world.

Sato mentioned that he wasn’t even allowed to listen to the other VAs in the Heaven facility. This was done to enhance the feeling of separation between the two storylines.

While this made recording a bit of a challenge as they were in the dark about the other characters, the cast believed that this enhanced the separate identities of both storylines.

Kiruko VA Sayaka Senbongi explained that if they all recorded together, their voices and acting may be mixed slightly.

Despite the unusual recording circumstances and the many mysteries that the series has yet to explain, Heavenly Delusion is a stand-out Spring 23 series.

If you haven’t seen it yet, new episodes are released weekly on Disney+ and Hulu.
