Ahead of the episode’s release, it was revealed that Ikarashi was tapped by Production I.G to be the director of Heavenly Delusion's latest episode.

Ikarashi is perhaps best known for directing Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Episode 6, which is considered by many to be the most memorable one of the series.

He has also worked on significant episodes of SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon.

With Ikarashi at the helm, Heavenly Delusion’s latest episode featured a huge change in style.

There were even fight scenes with multiple changes in art styles in a short span of time.

Following the episode, many viewers took to Twitter to share their excitement about the latest episode.

Specifically, some praised the exaggerated expressions of Kiruko and Maru, which reminded them of Studio Trigger's works.

Others also praised the fight scene between the Man-Eater with ice powers, especially as that scene featured multiple art style changes where the animators were able to flex their skills.

Despite the praise that was given to it, there were also fans who disliked the change and hope that this is just a one-off.

While many of the Twitter reactions were positive, the latest episode's discussion thread on Reddit had more of a mixed response from fans.

Specifically, some called the constant art style changes distracting. Some viewers also said that the different styles did not work well in the context of the other episodes.

Another aspect criticized was that some parts were said to be essentially slideshows.

At multiple points in the episode, certain scenes were composed of still frames, which some claim was a budget-saving move.

While the reception to the episode was mixed, many are still looking forward to the next episode.

Plus, it’s likely that Ikarashi was only tapped to direct this one episode, so the next episodes should return to the series’ original look.

Heavenly Delusion will continue with Episode 11, which will be released on Saturday.
