The Heavenly Delusion anime, also known as Tengoku Daimakyo, is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Masakazu Ishiguro.
The anime is currently streaming on Hulu for viewers in the U.S., and for international viewers, Heavenly Delusion anime is up on Disney+.

Who Are Kiruko and Maru in Heavenly Delusion?
Kiruko is one of the main protagonists in Heavenly Delusion. She runs a handyman shop in Nakano.
Later, she teams up with Maru and starts looking for a mystical place called Heaven.
She is known to be a skilled survivor who is good with guns. In the past, she used to live with her brother, Haruki in an orphanage in Asakusa.
Five years ago, and 10 years after the calamity, Haruki’s brain was transplanted into Kiruko.
Since then, she has been looking for the doctor who did the operation as well as a man named Robin who was her mentor.
Maru is another protagonist of the series and is looking for Heaven. He wants to find a person named Tokio who looks exactly like him.
Also, Maru has no idea of his origin and doesn’t know his surname.

Do Kiruko and Maru End Up Together?
Unfortunately, the Heavenly Delusion manga is currently ongoing and it is difficult to predict if Kiruko and Maru will end up together as a couple.
However, one thing is for certain and that is Maru’s feelings for Kiruko.
Toward the end of Heavenly Delusion Episode 2, titled Two Confessions, Maru confesses to Kiruko that he is in love with her.
In the series, it is revealed that Maru, who calls Kiruko “sis,” fell in love with her as soon as they started their journey together.
In Episode 3 of Heavenly Delusion, titled Kiriko and Haruki, Kiruko tells Maru her entire backstory including that she identifies as a man.

Despite knowing everything about Kiruko, he still feels she is a woman. Moreover, Maru still wants to explore a romantic relationship with her.
Meanwhile, Kiruko cares about Maru and wants him to arrive at Heaven and fulfill his mission.
As the story progresses, Kiruko rejects Maru’s confessions on several occasions. However, she too shows some interest in Maru.
Kiruko also feels that she does not deserve Maru’s love. The two share a beautiful chemistry but it may or may not blossom into romance.
