Much like his Marvel Cinematic Universe contemporaries Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner could soon be hanging up his boots and by the looks of things, his days in the billion-dollar franchise might actually be numbered. Renner is set to star in the upcoming Hawkeye series but despite the series being titled after the bow and arrow wielding Avenger, the show revolves around Clint Barton passing on the torch and the Hawkeye mantle to Kate Bishop played by Hailee Steinfeld.
Considering the two actors are working closely together as mentor-protege in the Disney+ show, one would think that they are on the best of terms both personally and professionally. However, a new rumor suggests that Hailee and Jeremy couldn't stand each other on the set of the upcoming MCU series. According to a scoop from Reddit user SpideyForever245, the actors didn't quite get along but the scooper didn't go into detail about their alleged ill feelings towards each other.
Renner has long been accused of being unprofessional and the cancel culturists have developed quite the resentment for the actor over the years. However, the allegations that have been thrown at him have yet to be proven. Hailee, on the other hand, has always had a reputation of being a sweetheart on set and behind the camera. Personally, I don't believe the rumors but if they are in fact true, it's probably just a case of a veteran star not understanding how young actors work.
No official release date has been announced for Hawkeye yet.
