There is little doubt that fans are looking forward to seeing Hailee Steinfeld in action in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series Hawkeye. But before that, the Dickinson star had to prepare for her role as Kate Bishop. Not surprisingly, Steinfeld did the necessary research and read a lot of comic books.
Steinfeld's casting has been hinted at back in 2019 but it wasn't until December last year that the Bumblebee actress was confirmed for Hawkeye. Now Steinfeld is more open to talking about her role in the MCU show. In an interview with SFX magazine, Steinfeld admitted that she didn't have a hard time doing research because of her love for comic books.
"I've always loved comics. I've always been a very visual person, and a large book with anything over 200-250 pages has always intimidated me, so comics have always been something I've been drawn to because of the visual aspect of it," Steinfeld confessed.
"So I've had so much fun reading these comics and going through them and discovering these elements of Kate Bishop that are in there that we're bringing to life in the show and other elements of the comics," she concluded.
It's great to know that Steinfeld didn't have a hard time learning about her character. She even admitted that she had fallen in love with archery as part of her preparation for her role in the MCU series.
Hawkeye will also star Jeremy Renner as Kate's mentor Clint Barton and Alaqua Cox as Echo. The series has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to premiere on Disney+ in late 2021.
