It's no secret that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is one of the most highly anticipated movies this summer and most of the excitement comes from the anticipation for new Spider-People. However, Hailee Steinfeld says that the sequel will also explore Spider-Gwen's story even further.

Hailee Steinfeld recently joined Across the Spider-Verse co-star Shameik Moore in an interview with CBR where they discussed the major changes in the sequel. For Steinfeld, it was all about watching the story unfold through the scripts.

"We aren't given a full script at the beginning of the process. So we're making discoveries as we go along, and there are always surprises," she said.

"There are always exciting things to find out," Steinfeld added. "They're really good at keeping things under wraps, which makes the experience for us seeing it at the end of the day just as special as I hope it is for our audiences."

Hailee Steinfeld then admitted that she is thrilled that Gwen Stacy's story will finally be explored in the sequel.

"I guess I was just really excited to learn that we were going to dig a little deeper into Spider-Gwen's story and grow with her a little bit more than we did in the first film," she said.

"[Earth-65], I mean, it's one of those things when I saw it for the first time, I felt like -- and I felt this way about seeing the first film -- it was like you were in that comic book and the pages were flipping and you were just in them," she said. "With this one, I finally felt that again, somehow 10 times more."

Steinfeld added, "But you never get taken out of it. You're so invested, and you're so immersed in this beautiful world that they've created."

This is certainly an exciting update considering that we didn't get to learn a lot about Gwen in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Hopefully, we'll also get to find out more about the other Spider-People as well.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse will hit theaters on June 2, 2023.
