Fans are understandably concerned about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after James Gunn's firing and the sequel being put on hold. Nevertheless, Karen Gillan assures everyone that the beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise will continue in the near future.
Gillan was recently made an appearance on the Shoot This Now podcast. The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actress admitted she hasn't been given any updates on the status of Vol. 3.
"I actually don't know, it's the honest answer. I feel like they're talking about it and trying to figure out what the next best move is. I'm hoping that it all comes together and we get to tell the story. It would be nice to continue it."
Although she isn't sure about what will happen in Vol. 3, Gillan is confident that Disney and Marvel still have plans for the franchise.
"I'm sure they will. I feel like they will. I don't really think there's a chance they won't," she said.
Gillan could be right about her instincts. After all, the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films were major blockbuster winners. In addition to that, Vol. 2 concluded with a possible hint at the future as new characters were introduced. Let's hope that we'll get a new update on Vol. 3 in the near future.
We might need to wait for some time before getting a Vol. 3 update. In the meantime, Gillan will return as Nebula in Avengers 4. Hopefully, the character will find a way to bring back her friends so they can continue with their adventures in Vol. 3.
Avengers 4 will premiere on May 3, 2019.
