Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Star Speaks Out on Being James Gunn’s Superman Prospect

Will Poulter will soon be making his Marvel debut playing the gold-skinned man-god Adam Warlock in James Gunn’s last project for the MCU (for now), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

As Gunn celebrates the ending of his Guardians trilogy franchise, he will be rebooting the DCU next in his reign over DC Studios.

As we have yet to uncover who is set to replace Henry Cavill’s Superman, the DC fans have a pretty good guess and some of them have pointed out Poulter potentially nailing the role.

However, this seems to be far-fetched, seeing as the actor himself has dispelled the rumors.

When asked whether the 30-year-old actor has auditioned for the titular role in Superman: Legacy, Poulter told Variety: “No, I have not. I haven’t.”

As for the actor, on whether he could see himself auditioning for the position, Poulter added: “Not until just now! No, I’m very grateful to be in this for the period of time that I am, and grateful for that alone.”

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn previously debunked online rumors of Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC having already found their main actor for Superman: Legacy.

Previously, Gunn tweeted back at fans who speculated Logan Lerman has been cast for the part, replying that no potential Superman actors have been approached.

In fact, they are still prepping up for auditions to hold.

“It’s hard, but we’re looking,” Gunn told Variety in a separate interview. “And we actually have some really great choices, which I’m excited about.”

Gunn detailed some of the qualities they’re looking for in casting their new Man of Steel, “It has to be somebody who has all of the humanity that Superman has, but he’s also an alien.”

“It’s gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has. And it has to be somebody that you want to give a hug [to].” Gunn added.

James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy is slated to release on July 11, 2025.

Meanwhile, his last Marvel project, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, premieres on May 5.
