James Gunn Offends Percy Jackson Fans for Not Knowing Who Logan Lerman Is

The social media world might be full of valuable information, but most of the time, they are platforms filled with rumors and misinformation. Since Henry Cavill stepped down as Superman, DC fans and scoopers haven’t rested a day to spread names of who will be the next Clark Kent. But given that James Gunn is one of the CEOs of DC Studios, these hearsays are always put to rest. Just recently, the Peacemaker creator enraged Percy Jackson fans for admitting he doesn’t know who Logan Lerman is, as he also debunked the speculations that the famous actor will be the new superman.

Grace Randolph claimed on Twitter that she heard that Gunn and his team are close to arriving at their choice for the role. “I hear they are VERY close to a #Superman casting - might not be announced for a while but it could leak. Very very close… Role MIGHT even be cast or in final talks,” she wrote. A fan then tagged Gunn in the Beyond the Trailer host’s tweet, which the Guardians of the Galaxy director immediately responded to, “Not true. Haven’t had a single talk with a single actor about the role. Just making private lists, prepping material for auditions.”

Despite Gunn already rejecting the idea that the new Man of Steel will be cast soon, Randolph then again tweeted another claim, “I guess I can say I heard his top choice is #LoganLerman.” The DC co-head quoted Randolph’s and wrote, “For the record, I don’t know who that is (Lerman),” This isn’t the first time that Gunn shut down the scooper’s claim. This might be the seventh time this year that she claimed that Superman has been chosen already.

Gunn’s frank answer raised a few eyebrows, so he felt the need to explain what he truly meant by not knowing The Perks of Being a Wallflower actor. “Guys, this isn’t a dig at the actor. I don’t know lots of actors’ names. Now that you tell me who he is, I recognize him from stuff and think he’s talented. But I’ve never met him, and he’s never been part of a conversation about playing Superman.” he wrote.

Given that Lerman is already on Gunn’s radar now that his name has been brought up, some fans took the opportunity to let the writer-director know how magnificent of an actor he is, and it’s just proper that he considered casting him for anything under his new DCU. “In that case, get to know him. He is a great actor and even though he ain't the top pick for Superman, he would make a fine addition to the DCU.” user @TheLIVIDReyes wrote.

Lerman rose to fame after playing the titular role in the fantasy-adventure Percy Jackson films. He also starred in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Stuck in Love, Bullet Train, and Fury. Gunn’s Superman: Legacy will be his first movie in the new DCU and he is set to direct and write the film. This new version of Superman will take the hero into his younger years, and it’s slated to premiere in 2025.
