Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Fans Speculate Major Character Death Based on New Movie Posters

It’s no secret that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is bound to be the most emotional film from the franchise trilogy, especially since this is going to be DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn’s last MCU film in the making. The trailer didn’t ease fans in what to expect from the threequel, either, with the exploration on Rocket’s past making it easier for fans to speculate that he’ll be long gone before the new Avengers lineup.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is mainly focusing on the history behind Rocket the raccoon’s past seeing as he had been the fan-favorite character everyone’s been waiting to get more screen time for. However, the poster is not looking good on the raccoon’s future in the MCU. Check out the movie poster below:

Guardians of the Galaxy fans were quick to point out what the poster overall implies. Notice how the rest of the guardians are not even showing in the picture, just Rocket walking ahead of their feet. Not to mention, the not-so-subtle gun pointed at his head. While it’s too early to confirm any speculation, there is no denying that the poster says it all.

Meanwhile, one of the users presumed the possibility of The Blip recreating its heartbreaking Rocket moment, in which all of the guardians meet their demise instead of the raccoon.

Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista had also previously revealed the emotional ending we should be expecting from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, considering that this is potentially the last time we'll be seeing the guardians together on the big screens in their own franchise, and possibly Bautista no longer playing Drax in the MCU.

Is the guardians really ending this way? We can't say that for sure. Though Gunn said he would be more than open to return and make more films for Star-Lord and the rest of the team in the future, so there's hope.

As for whether Rocket does survive the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, looks like we’ll have to wait until the movie releases. In the meantime, you can check out the official trailer for the threequel below:

Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated to hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
