Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Ends With A Bang, According to Dave Bautista

Marvel’s Phase 5 is about to kick off this month with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Despite still being months away, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is one of the most anticipated MCU offerings for this part of the roadmap, as it’s about to conclude the stories of the Guardians. GotG will be the third and final installment of the film series, and according to Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in the saga, this movie will offer something that hasn't been offered by the previous volumes.

As teased by other cast members and James Gunn before, GotG Vol. 3 will be the saddest narrative among the three as it sees the send-off of other beloved characters. As MCU fans patiently waited to set their eyes on the trilogy’s finale, Bautista promised the audience that Vol. 3 would be the best among the three despite its emotional elements. In an interview with Uproxx, the actor gave insight into the film.

“It's very emotional. It's emotional, it's dark, and it's deep and it's inspiring,” he said. “I think this is going to be special... I haven't seen it and I always feel like that every time. I thought Guardians would be the best, or Guardians 2 would be the best. And after reading the script and after being on this film and filming it, it's just so much better.”

Despite being able to build his name in the MCU, the former WWE superstar revealed in previous interviews that the third installment will mark the end of his superhero career. Bautista spent nearly a decade as a Marvel actor, and his acting experience in the studios will always be something that he will be grateful for. But he had always believed he was destined to play more significant and dramatic roles outside the MCU.

“I'm so grateful for Drax. I love him,” Bautista expressed. “But there's a relief [that it's over]. It wasn't all pleasant... And I just don't know if I want Drax to be my legacy - it's a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.” The actor also noted that he wouldn’t stay playing Drax just to receive a paycheck.

GotG Vol. 3 will see the return of its original cast members, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper. It will also feature the long-awaited debut of Adam Warlock, who will be played by the MCU's new addition, Will Poulter.
