Saying that a lot is happening in Gotham season 3 is pretty much an understatement. You have Jim Gordon putting down his badge to be a bounty hunter. There's a lot of new villains, from the Mad Hatter's entrance to the Edward Nygma's transformation to The Riddler, and even to the appearance of doppelgangers and experiments from Indian Hill.
But that's not to say that we can't expect anything more from season 2 breakout villain Barbara Kean. Since she had surrendered to her dark side to become part of the Maniax, her downward spiral had been very palpable even behind the scenes.
For season three, Barbara actress Erin Richards revealed that things will just go further from there. Speaking to Comicbook.com, Richards said that she will now become her own woman in the latest season.
"Barbara has more ownership of what she's doing in Season 3. Because of the club that we have, we're much more integral to the running of Gotham City and its sort of underworld. So she's kind of owning her space a bit more, which is fantastic."
This club is known as Sirens. And to be honest, it rings so much of how Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) had been before she took down Carmine Falcone (John Doman). Whether or not Barbara goes down that path remains to be seen.
She does have her partner beside her—not like Fish's Penguin (Robin Taylor) who had been more of a servant. And according to Richards, even that power play will serve a purpose in her transformation.
In the last season, Barbara was in a relationship with Tabitha (Jessica Lucas), though how it will be in the latest season of Gotham remains to be seen. interestingly, Richards hinted that power dominance seems to be the name of the two ladies' game, so that will certainly bring a more interesting flair for that side of Gotham City.
Gotham will be back for its third season on Sept. 19 on FOX.
