Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Named as Most Anticipated Movie of 2023

The year 2022 is about to end and there were a lot of great films that were released this year that the audience loved as shown by the box office results and the audience scores. As we're now looking at the year 2023, there is no doubt that it will also be the same case based on the list of films that are set to release.

Yesterday, Fandango released the list of Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2023 based on the survey that they conducted with more than 5,000 respondents. Topping the list is the highly-anticipated MCU film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is set to be the final entry in the trilogy and the team's swan song under James Gunn's direction.

It is followed by two more Marvel movies: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, whose trailers have been released and generated hype amongst the general audience.

The rest of the list includes (in order): John Wick: Chapter 4, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes, Creed III, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

It is worth noting that Marvel easily dominated the first three spots on the list which is a sign that the general audience is still excited about what's to come in the MCU (or the Marvel Universe in general). The Marvels is notably missing from the list although perhaps the absence of a trailer could factor into that.

However, it's not the case for DC as it only has one entry with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, whose first film hit a billion dollars back in 2018. It is hard to tell why only one film made it, especially with The Flash also set to come out although Ezra Miller's controversies might have affected the excitement surrounding it.

Either way, the list just shows that the moviegoing audience will continue to support the blockbuster films that are coming next year which is a great sign for the theatrical business as it still continues to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown. Let's see whether these films will also become box office hits.
