Godzilla vs Kong Defeats Snyder Cut in HBO Max Premiere Viewership

There is little doubt that Godzilla vs Kong is winning big-time at the global box office. However, it looks like its digital release is just as successful. A new report reveals that the MonsterVerse flick has set a new record in its premiere viewership on HBO Max and has easily defeated Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Variety revealed that HBO Max has confirmed Godzilla vs Kong has the highest four-day debut viewership of any film or series in the streaming service's history. This means that the monster showdown movie actually defeated the Snyder Cut, which was released exclusively on the streamer.

This isn't exactly a huge surprise considering that Godzilla vs Kong has been doing extremely well on the box office. The film, which is the third in the Godzilla movie series, took in more than $100 million internationally before its premiere in the US. As of writing, Godzilla vs Kong is the biggest global blockbuster during the pandemic era.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time that Godzilla vs Kong has gone up against Zack Snyder's Justice League. Fans had previously bombed the Legendary film's Rotten Tomatoes rating after Warner Bros. announced that Snyderverse will not be pursued further. Although this has been settled, people still can't stop comparing the two films.

It's interesting to note that Zack Snyder's Justice League isn't the only DC Extended Universe film that has been defeated by Godzilla vs Kong in HBO Max viewership. Wonder Woman 1984 had the same simultaneous premiere as the monster movie and was believed to be a huge success last year.

Godzilla vs Kong is still screening in theaters worldwide and on HBO Max.
