Godzilla vs Kong Features Surprising King Ghidorah Connection

Godzilla vs Kong is finally out and fans are loving the latest film from the MonsterVerse. After all, the new movie features an epic battle between the two Titans and even features a surprising connection to the previous film's main villain King Ghidorah.

In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla went up against King Ghidorah and managed to defeat the three-headed alien Kaiju. At the end of the movie, the post-credits scene showed Alan Jonah and his team buying one of Ghidorah's severed heads in Mexico.

Interestingly, another skull turns up in Godzilla vs Kong. As Maddie, Josh, and Bernie end up in an Apex facility in Hong Kong, they discover that Ishiro Serizawa's son Ren Serizawa has been using the skull to control the MechaGodzilla during a test. However, they need a greater source of power to prevent it from shutting down.

Apex eventually finds an ideal power source from Hollow Earth but Ghidorah's consciousness is activated at the same time. It takes control over MechaGodzilla, killing Ren and setting out to attack Godzilla.

It's interesting to note that although Godzilla is fighting MechaGodzilla, the creation is actually being controlled by Ghidorah. This would explain why MechaGodzilla was so determined to get rid of Godzilla in the first place. Additionally, this would mean that the fight in Godzilla vs Kong was actually a continuation of what happened in King of the Monsters.

What did you think of King Ghidorah controlling MechaGodzilla to fight Godzilla and Kong? Sound off in the comments below.

Godzilla vs Kong is directed by Adam Wingard now screening in theaters worldwide.
