In a recent interview, Esposito addressed the Professor X fancast where he supported the clamoring from fans as he believed that he would have done a great job playing the role.

"The fans really started the Professor X rumor and I loved it. I went along for the ride because I love the fans. I started thinking about Professor X, because I feel like that could be a character that I would really excel at, and really be great in," he said.

"They also talked about Magneto, they also talked about [DC's Mr.] Freeze, all of those things."

While he won't be officially playing Professor X in the MCU, Esposito is happy to be involved in the franchise and is looking forward to seeing how fans will respond to his mysterious character.

He continued, "I am so happy to be in the MCU. I'm happy that you don't know what I'm doing there and I'm happy that I probably don't know what I'm doing there, but I'm happy to be there and you're going to see it soon."

Whether Esposito is playing someone like Professor X or not, it is great to see him finally get involved in the franchise since he is a talented actor and it's always an advantage to have someone of his caliber play in the MCU sandbox.

Based on the set photos that surfaced online recently, it looks like Esposito will be playing a soldier-type figure that might be a pivotal part of the film's action, and that alone is a promising sign that his MCU role is at least noteworthy.

Captain America: Brave New World is slated for release in theaters on February 14, 2025.
