With rumors swirling that Henry Cavill's Superman is making a cameo appearance in Black Adam, there are fans who are wondering whether it will also lead to the eventual fight between the two DC characters which is something that Dwayne Johnson has been clamoring for years. Now, it looks like that possibility is becoming a reality soon.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Johnson was asked whether they have plans to actually put the "Black Adam vs. Superman" fight in motion soon and he confirmed that it is indeed actually happening which is now possible thanks to the new era of the DC Universe that his film is establishing.
"Absolutely. That is the whole point of this man. Thank you for asking that. And I have been saying for some time, there's a new era in the DC Universe that's about to begin. And what I meant by that was introducing a brand new character. It's not a sequel, not an existing IP. It was...you know, Black Adam!," Johnson said.
"Two years ago, the world had no idea who he was. We did, but not, you know, the rest of the mass out there. Introducing the JSA, introducing that new era of the DC universe. But also what I really meant by, ‘This is a new era in the DC Universe,’ is listening to the fans. Listening to the fans. And doing our best to give the fans what they want."
It is interesting to hear that Johnson is confirming that we're going to expect a fight between Black Adam and Superman soon and this is also pretty much a confirmation that the Man of Steel still has a future in the DCEU aside from his rumored appearance in the upcoming film.
A lot of fans have also been clamoring for a fight between the two characters for years so this is certainly a big deal once they actually make that happen. It would be interesting to see which specific project will we see this showdown happen and, more importantly, the result of their impending face-off.
Black Adam is set to release in theaters this October 21. You can check more details about it here.
