The future of Elizabeth Olsen in the MCU remains uncertain at the moment following Scarlet Witch's ambiguous fate by the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There have been rumors surrounding her next project, but none of them have been confirmed so far.
Now that the Mutants are set to make their way into the MCU soon, there are fans who are also wondering whether Scarlet Witch will be eventually designated as a mutant.
As fans already know, the character has mutant origins in the comics although she was never designated as one in the MCU since Marvel Studios doesn't have the rights yet back when they introduced her.
A lot of them are certainly hoping that she'll be designated as a mutant to align with her comic origins and join the characters such as Kamala Khan and Namor, who are both officially mutants in the MCU canon.
Elizabeth Olsen Wants to See Scarlet Witch Explore the 'Whole Mutant Thing'
In her recent appearance at TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con (via The Direct), Olsen revealed her hopes surrounding Scarlet Witch's MCU future where she shared that she wants to see her character cross paths with the X-Men and explore her mutant origins.
"Oh gosh, I just want to figure out the whole Mutant thing. Like, that’s really…and none of us can do anything about it. Like, we can’t do anything about it," she said.
"We’re not X-Men, but gosh. I just would love to explore that so much. I think, X-Men was definitely my first experience with superhero-type films."
This is not the first time that the actress shared her hopes surrounding her MCU character's potential crossover with the upcoming mutant characters as fans have been adamant that they want to see it happen as well.
While the character's MCU future is currently uncertain, we can also take a guess at this point that perhaps Marvel Studios is also considering this idea since they know how pivotal Scarlet Witch is to the X-Men history and they have the perfect opportunity to do it with Olsen around.
Since the actress is game for more Scarlet Witch appearances, it sounds like the possibility will become a reality once the MCU embarks on the mutant saga. Let's see for now how it will all unfold in the coming years.
