Christopher Eccleston is officially coming back to Doctor Who! The Thor: The Dark World actor has confirmed his involvement in the Doctor Who 60th-anniversary celebration and Eccleston even teased some details about his upcoming project!
We already know that Christopher Eccleston worked on new audio dramas for Doctor Who and it looks like he actually worked on something for the franchise's 60th anniversary. During an appearance at FedCon, Eccleston shared some details about his latest project and gushed about his new co-star.
"I did something very special for the 60th anniversary and for me it was all about working with this incredible actor, an incredible human being called David Warner," Eccleston told the audience. He then added that he truly enjoyed working with Warner on the project.
"I think the 60th is my favorite and you're gonna have to wait but it's going to be worth the wait because David Warner is extraordinary and if any actor should have been the Doctor it would have been David," Eccleston said.
It's an unexpected little bit of detail considering that David Warner has previously appeared in several Doctor Who audio dramas including Sympathy for the Devil where he played The Doctor. Could this mean that the Ninth Doctor will be working with Warner's Doctor in the new audio drama for the 60th anniversary? Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
The Doctor Who 60th anniversary special has not yet been given an official release date. In the meantime, the latest cast addition is Neil Patrick Harris, who will appear in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special. It was previously confirmed that David Tennant and Catherine Tate will reprise their roles as the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble, respectively, in the special episode.
