Doctor Who: Christopher Eccleston Will Return as Time Lord on ONE Condition

Christopher Eccleston has already made it clear that he has no plans of working with BBC again or returning in Doctor Who. However, it looks like the veteran actor has changed his mind in the past few years. Eccleston has just decided that he could continue playing the Ninth Doctor. But he also pointed out that he will only do it on one condition.

It's no secret that Christopher Eccleston didn't get along with BBC. The tension led to the Thor: The Dark World star playing the Ninth Doctor in just one season. Although Eccleston reprised the role in an audio drama, he has yet to play the character in live-action all over again.

So is there any chance Eccleston will be back as the Ninth Doctor in a Doctor Who episode? The actor recently attended the Supernova convention in Australia where Eccleston told fans that he was never a fan of multi-Doctor crossover stories. He then pointed out that if the Doctor Who writers want him back, they should give him a solo project.

"I've never been a fan of multi-Doctor stories. You know, when I worked on the series I had really strong ideas—surprise, surprise—about what works and what doesn't, and I always think that multi-Doctor stories are a bit of a cash-in, and a bit of exploitation," Eccleston told fans. "Creatively they never work for me. … The Ninth Doctor in particular is a one-man band, definitely. So, he doesn't work with other Doctors. If you want me back, you get me on my own."

It's an interesting idea but also one that doesn't seem likely to happen soon. On the other hand, Whovians who support Christopher Eccleston could eventually help convince Doctor Who writers to create a completely new project for the Ninth Doctor. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
