Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Scores Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes


With only a few days left before the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theaters, the critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes is finally out and the much-awaited sequel is currently sitting fresh. The movie is expected to be one of the biggest this year considering that it has the most pre-selling ticket sales out of all the films that came out in 2022.

As of the time of writing, there are 103 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and it is scored “fresh” with 80%, a high one for a film that isn’t out yet. The audience rating is yet to be filled considering that the release of the movie will be not until Friday this week.

Though there are some rotten scores given to the film, most gave it a fresh rating with some notable critics from various platforms applauding the latest Marvel adventure. Alonso Duralde from TheWrap said, "Hits the ooh-and-aah marks we expect from a well-crafted Marvel adventure, but even with Sam Raimi at the helm, this entry goes heavy on the spectacle but light on the humanity."

Another critic who gave the film a fresh score is from CNN.com, Brian Lowry, "All told, this sequel proves highly entertaining, if not quite worthy of the pent-up demand for it."

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the sequel of Doctor Strange who opens the doors between the different universes in existence after he casts a forbidden spell that he crafted using his powers to manipulate time and space.

Facing the consequences of his actions, together with the current Sorcerer Supreme, Wong, and the most powerful Avenger, Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff, they deal with one of the most powerful threats to ever arrive in the MCU.

Benedict Cumberbatch reprises his role as Doctor Strange and he would be joined by Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong as Wong, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, possibly Clea, too. Sam Raimi sits on the director’s chair.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arrives in theaters on May 6, 2022.
