Following the success of Multiverse of Madness last year, a third Doctor Strange movie is now reportedly in the works and they're planning to potentially release it sometime before Avengers: Secret Wars which will be the culmination of the Multiverse Saga.

So far, Marvel Studios has not officially commented yet about the status of the project although the sequel's box office success and its post-credits scene were certainly an indication that a third movie is imminent no matter what.

Benedict Cumberbatch also recently revealed in an interview that he is set to work on an upcoming MCU project next year which fans see as a hint that a third movie is now on its way.

Now, as we're endlessly speculating the Sorcerer Supreme's next solo adventure in the MCU, a new report has emerged that laid out some of the alleged details surrounding its plot.

According to a report from The Cosmic Circus, the third Doctor Strange film will adapt elements from the "Time Runs Out" storyline in the comics and it will pick up the events from the post-credits scene of Multiverse of Madness where Clea tasked Strange's help on fixing the incursion.

They claimed that, during the film, the Sorcerer Supreme will be sought out by a multiversal organization called The Black Priests where Clea is also a member.

It will also be revealed that the multiverse is dying due to the various incursions that have happened with the most recent one caused by Strange during the events of Multiverse of Madness.

The film is expected to be a preamble to the upcoming Avengers films where it will be revealed that the incursions were actually caused by the Council of Kangs. So far, Marvel Studios has not commented on this report.

If this storyline does end up being the source of the third movie's plot, it sounds like they will be doubling down on the ongoing multiverse storyline of the MCU which is what fans have been theorizing and this could be the boiling point toward the climactic part of the saga.

With Theron's MCU return still not officially set as of this moment, this report essentially confirms that she is indeed going to play a pivotal part in the third film and it is interesting to see if they'll set her up as a major player in the Multiverse Saga alongside Strange.
