Charlize Theron made her MCU debut last year in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when she showed up as Clea during the film's mid-credits scene. However, since then, we still have not heard any update about what's next for her tenure in the franchise.

Speaking recently with reporter Josh Horowitz during the world premiere event of Fast X (via The Wrap), Theron was directly asked whether her next MCU appearance has already been mapped out.

Unfortunately, the Oscar winner offers a disappointing update as she revealed that she has not received a call yet from Marvel Studios.

"I haven’t gotten a call. Is that bad?" she said.

Horowitz went on to press the actress about the question where she insisted that she is not lying in her response. "No, that’s what we’re running," the host quipped.

It is certainly concerning to hear that Theron's MCU return has not been set up yet by Marvel and there is no doubt that a lot of fans are curious about what's next for the character following her surprise debut in the sequel.

However, with many projects coming on their way in the next couple of years, it sounds like it might take a while before we will hear any actual update about the actress' next appearance in the MCU.

Comic book fans know that Clea has a history with Doctor Strange in the comics so we can pretty much guess that her mid-credits scene was a set-up for her presumed expanded role in the third film, which has not been announced yet by Marvel Studios.

In the comics, Clea is currently the current Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange's ex-wife, and the niece of Dormammu. She first appeared in Strange Tales #126 which was released in 1964.

Considering that Theron is also an A-list actress, there is no doubt as well that Marvel Studios would love to work with her beyond just a cameo and there is a reason why someone her caliber was cast to play the role.

Hopefully, Theron will receive a call from Marvel Studios about her MCU future very soon as a lot of fans are anticipating for them to address what her appearance meant about Doctor Strange's journey and the overall Multiverse Saga arc.

We should be hearing more updates about it in the coming months or years as Marvel Studios is still mapping out the future of the franchise.
