Doctor Strange 2 New Promo Seemingly Includes Another Character Yet to Debut in the MCU

As the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness nears, Marvel drops a new promo for the upcoming film and eagle-eyed spectators were quick to notice, in a blink-or-you’ll-miss-it moment, that the teaser seemingly includes a character yet to debut in the MCU, one that was cut from the Avengers: Infinity War.

Marvel released a new promo of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which took everyone back to the first film upon hearing the voice of the Ancient One discussing that the universe they are in is just one of an infinite number in existence.

Other than the voice of the previous Sorcerer Supreme, eagle-eyed fans was quick to notice another character in the short clip: The Living Tribunal. It seems to be in the scene where America Chavez is falling and Strange is tumbling through to save her. At around the 0:10 mark, in the scene seems like a floating head, similar to that of The Living Tribunal.

During the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, it was revealed that The Living Tribunal was supposed to appear in the Avengers: Infinity War but was cut because with such a powerful entity in the middle of the most awaited battle between the Avengers and Thanos, The Living Tribunal would be quick to dismiss Thanos being a threat.

The Living Tribunal was first mentioned in the MCU where Baron Mordo wielded a weapon called as “The Staff of the Living Tribunal” in the first Doctor Strange movie and it also appeared as an Easter egg in the series of Loki where there is a statute head with three faces covered in cloth.

In the comics, the first person from Earth that The Living Tribunal encountered was Doctor Strange. The humanoid cosmic entity granted Strange limited time so he could prove that the planet was worth saving and restore the cosmic balance. They were the ones to decide whether Earth should be eliminated in exchange of the greater good of the Multiverse.

That being said, it would make sense if The Living Tribunal would appear on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness considering that the cosmic entity decided in the comics the fate of Earth for the sake of the Multiverse.

Do you think The Living Tribunal will be in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? The film premieres in theaters on May 6, 2022.
