Doctor Strange 2: Elizabeth Olsen Would Only Do a Scarlet Witch Standalone Film on One Condition

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently dominating the box office as it crosses the $500 Million mark in global and domestic receipts combined. Alongside Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero, the sequel also places the spotlight on Elizabeth Olsen's villainous arc as she fully transforms into her comic book counterpart, the Scarlet Witch.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
shows a version of Wanda we've never seen before. Corrupted by the Darkhold, she officially descended into madness and transformed into the Scarlet Witch. Throughout the film, Scarlet Witch goes on a killing spree, defeated Wong and Strange twice, and killed every founding member of the Illuminati.

Thankfully, the conclusion of the film shows Wanda getting to her senses and vows to destroy the book that corrupted her. In the process, Wanda sacrificed herself, leaving her future in the franchise unknown.

As fans constantly debate whether the Scarlet Witch is really dead, Elizabeth Olsen recently teased the character's future in the MCU.

In an interview with New York Times, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Elizabeth Olsen was asked if she is open to doing another movie like the Scarlet Witch.

"I think I would," Olsen responded. "But it really needs to be a good story. I think these films are best when it's not about creating content, but about having a very strong point of view – not because you need to have a three-picture plan."

Knowing Marvel, they wouldn't kill one of the most powerful MCU characters just like that. Considering the massive fandom that would surely protest if the character dies, Wanda's arc still appears to be incomplete, and a redemption storyline would definitely be a good choice for the first standalone Scarlet Witch film. If fans are lucky enough, Wanda might actually return in the future to redeem herself and reclaim her title as an Avenger.

Aside from that, there were rumors that Elizabeth Olsen signed a 7-year contract extension with Marvel Studios, which means that Multiverse of Madness won't be the character's last appearance.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now showing in theaters worldwide.
