Disappointing Fantastic Four Update Revealed By Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Writer

Now that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is approaching its third weekend in theaters, Jeff Loveness, who wrote the Ant-Man threequel and is currently set to work on the script for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, has been quite open when it comes to revealing updates on which MCU heroes are bound to be featured in the film. However, he’s got some disappointing news on Fantastic Four’s potential appearance, though.

“Yeah, it’s definitely a tricky thing. But much like when I took this Ant-Man job, I can’t really focus on that outside stuff. I have just got to lay down the bones of a good story, hopefully, and find the characters that I want to tell [it].” Loveness said in a recent interview with io9, “And then it becomes a game of ping pong with the other people. Like whoever comes on and does Fantastic Four or Blade or—I’m probably not even using those characters, you know—but it all informs itself.”

It’s quite underwhelming to see that Loveness is hesitant in involving Marvel’s first family, considering that MCU’s Fantastic Four comes out before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (February 14, 2025), plus the connection of Kang the Conqueror with Reed Richards would’ve definitely ended up pitting them against one another.

See, Kang’s true identity, Nathaniel Richards, is a descendant of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), so a face-off between these two would’ve made a lot more sense, especially with the concept of joining forces with the Avengers to defeat Kang at his own game. Who knows, though? Loveness has all the time in the world to rethink the current line-up he’s thinking of going against him and his Council of Kangs.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently slated to premiere on May 2, 2025. In the meantime, you can check out Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania now showing in theaters.
