Dakota Johnson is one of the most popular actresses of our time. Despite gaining recognition after her steamy performance in the Fifty Shades of Grey film series, Johnson has quite proven that she can be a versatile actress. Last year, Marvel Studios announced that the actress would be part of Madame Web’s ensemble. MCU fans couldn’t be more excited about the Persuasion star’s MCU debut, and despite it being a year away, a new report claims that Johnson is being used as an example to cast the role.
Jeff Sneider revealed on The Hot Mic Podcast that the Fifty Shades of Grey star "is the prototype" for Marvel Studios' Sue Storm casting for the upcoming Fantastic Four. The renowned insider noted that Lady Bird actress Saoirse Ronan, who is 28 years old, maybe a "little too young" for what the studios are searching for, which is a Johnson-type belonging in the "30-35" age range.
“As far as Fantastic Four goes, I mean… When we were talking about her age… Sue Storm’s age… and said they’re gonna start building around Sue Storm. And then I put out Saoirse [Ronan], and someone had come forward, and said Saoirse seems a little too young… So we’re looking at that 30-35 age range and, from what I understand, Dakota Johnson is the prototype.”

Marvel recently shared the casting process it’s going through for Fantastic Four, saying that they are planning to cast the Invisible Woman first and build the rest of the team around her. The casting is reportedly underway as production eyes an early 2024 release. Given the news, some fans tend to get confused about whether Johnson is the one who’s going to play the role.
However, Sneider clarified, "It’s not... going to be Dakota Johnson," as she’s currently filming Sony's Spider-Man spin-off. The scooper emphasized that Johnson is only the inspiration for the casting, which does not necessarily mean they are looking for the exact “white” woman.
“But it’s not going to be Dakota Johnson, because she is Madame Web… which, I believe, is undergoing reshoots right now too. So, it’s not going to be Dakota Johnson. Dakota Johnson is 32, I think, so does that mean that they’re looking at a white woman? Not necessarily. But you know, I think in an ideal world… they would like someone like Dakota Johnson.”

Johnson will play the clairvoyant Cassandra Webb in the upcoming Madame Web movie alongside Sydney Sweeney, Adam Scott, and more. It is scheduled for a February 16, 2024, release.
