Demon Slayer Brings Back Kengo Kawanishi as New Key Character

It's finally time for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 3 Episode 8 and viewers got to meet an important character from Muichiro Tokito's past. Interestingly, Kengo Kawanishi was brought back to play the new character and the casting is perfect.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 8: Kengo Kawanishi Cast As Another Important Character In Muichiro's Story

Kengo Kawanishi already plays Muichiro Tokito in the first and third seasons of Demon Slayer. However, the Blue Lock actor was cast yet again for another small yet important role in Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 8 as Muichiro's older twin brother Yuichiro Tokito.

Yuichiro plays a key role in the episode. As Muichiro's sole surviving family member, the older twin strongly opposes his brother's desire to help others and become a swordsman, opining that being helpful only leads to trouble. His fatal injury from a random demon that discovers the twins leads to Muichiro tapping into an inner rage to defeat the villain.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 8 was basically Kengo Kawanishi's show as he provides Muichiro's narration and Yuichiro's strong opinions against kindness. It's an amazing feat as Kawanishi gave two distinct voices and performances for each twin.

The eighth episode of Demon Slayer Season 3 also introduced Manami Numakura as the twins' mother and Kentaro Kumagai as the demon who attacks them.

Legendary Naruto actor Atsushi Ono also made an appearance as Muichiro's original swordsmith Tetsuido who appears in an emotionally-charged flashback. Noriaki Sugiyama, who first appeared in last week's episode, returns as Muichiro and Yuichiro's father.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 8 is the second episode of the anime that didn't feature Tanjiro Kamado and his sister Nezuko (the first was Season 2's Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku). The episode adapts the manga's Chapter 118 (which has the same title as the episode) and parts of Chapter 119.

It feels like a shorter episode compared to its predecessors. However, The Mu in Muichiro is currently being hailed as the anime's best episode so far.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 3 Episode 8 is now streaming on Crunchyroll.
