Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy opened up about the possibility of a fourth movie featuring the Merc with a Mouth ahead of the threequel's release next month.

A lot of fans have been looking forward to the upcoming film since it will finally integrate Ryan Reynolds' iconic character into the MCU and team up with Hugh Jackman, who is returning as Wolverine.

There have been questions about the future of Merc with a Mouth in the MCU following the release of the upcoming film as fans are wondering whether we will see more of him in the franchise moving forward.

Shawn Levy Addresses Potential Fourth Deadpool Movie

In a recent interview, Levy opened up about the potential fourth Deadpool movie ahead of Deadpool and Wolverine's release, which is expected to break box office records.

While he didn't confirm any plans for a new Deadpool installment, he expressed his interest to helm the project if he gets asked again by Reynolds.

"Usually I have to lie. I'm waiting for the questions when I have to lie and pretend I don't know the answer, but this one I can sincerely say I don't know," the filmmaker said.

"But I can, in the same breath, say, 'Man, this thing has been the hardest, most all-consuming thing I've ever done. But it's also been the most creatively gratifying.' Because with Deadpool, there's no rules. It is, in its very DNA, built on tonal audacity. So, for a filmmaker, what a delight."

Levy continued, "And to do it with my best friend Ryan, my other buddy Hugh, the three of us who have known each other now for a very long time, it was just a blast. Because if you work with friends, you don't mind making an ass of yourself. And if you're working on something that's comedic, you better be willing to fall on your face."

If Deadpool and Wolverine ends up becoming a major box office success, there is a huge possibility that Marvel Studios and Reynolds will immediately start developing a fourth movie and plan the Merc with a Mouth's future in the MCU.

We've been hearing buzz from insiders that the film is receiving positive test scores and Marvel is excited about how it all turned out which proves Levy's great skills as the project's director.

While the conversations are still too early, it won't be surprising at this point if more Deadpool movies are coming and it's interesting to see whether his next potential adventure will be set in the MCU proper or a multiversal event again.

Deadpool and Wolverine is set to arrive in theaters this July 26.
