Hugh Jackman is committing to his return as the prized Marvel superhero, Wolverine, in the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie. Part of that job requires Jackman to bulk up for the role and hit the gym. But did you know that he has also changed his diet for the role?

Recently, Jackman revealed that he has increased his daily calorie consumption to increase his size. The actor turned to Twitter to share a glimpse of what kind of meals he's eating these days.

Jackman wrote:

"Bulking. A day in the life. Thank you Chef Mario for helping me stay healthy and properly fed whilst.. Becoming. Wolverine. Again."

According to Variety, Jackman's current diet requires him to consume up to more than 8,000 calories per day split between six meals throughout the day.

When Jackman revealed he was reprising his role as Wolverine, he spoke on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that he would be consuming over 6,000 calories a day. At that time, he was already eating 4,000 to 5,000 calories per day. And now, Jackman's diet is twice that number.

Here's a look at what Jackman's 8000-calorie meal per day looks like:

  • 2,000 calories of black bass
  • 2,100 calories of Patagonia salmon
  • 2,000 calories of two chicken burgers
  • 2,200 calories of two grass-fed sirloin steaks

Another actor who famously consumed 8,000 calories per day to bulk up for a role is Bradley Cooper, who had to add 40 pounds for his role in American Sniper. Cooper played the role of a Navy SEAL named Chris Kyle, so he ate 8,000 calories a day too.

Ever since he's been playing Wolvering, Jackman has relied on eating and hitting the gym to bulk up. He has since denied that he used steroids to bulk up for the role, and this is something evident in his daily routine.

Jackman previously spoke to CNN's Chris Wallace:

“No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine. I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old school way. And I tell you, I’ve eaten more chickens — I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world. Literally the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”

But even though Jackman has to consume this many calories per day, he makes up for it by exercising-- a lot. Just check out his workout video here:

Deadpool 3 has not started filming yet but is expected to hit theaters on November 8, 2024.
