Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy has been bringing nothing but exciting updates for the MCU threequel involving Ryan Reynolds playing the titular anti-hero along with the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The movie is set to become the official debut for Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Levy couldn’t contain his happiness sharing his hype upon being left to handle the threequel.
Recently speaking with SYFY, Shawn Levy opens up about what it’s like to finally see Ryan and Hugh on the big screen working together and soon coming into the multiverse. The director reiterates feeling lucky to helm this long-awaited duo. Check out his full comment below:
“I’ll just say, that, to be developing and prepping this movie that has this iconic duo together in an entire movie for the first time — a pairing between Hugh and Ryan, Wolverine and Deadpool. [It’s] very much a pairing that the world has waited for, for over a decade, [and] I’m the lucky son of a b*tch who gets to tell a story about that pair. The potential is so rich and every day that we work on the screenplay, there are ideas that we didn’t anticipate that appear because you’re talking about the ultimate Marvel icon and the ultimate Marvel iconoclast.”
With the promise of the threequel staying ‘raw’ and ‘gritty’ much like with its predecessors, combining it with the meta comedy Deadpool is known to portray along with Wolverine comebacks, fans are highly anticipating the huge crossover to also officially introduce more mutants into the MCU. Although as much as there’s excitement towards Deadpool 3 coming into Marvel, there lies the question as to how the only R-Rated film could possibly fit into the MCU, seeing as majority do not project the same level of violence and gore.
Deadpool 3 is currently slated for release on November 8, 2024.
