When it was first announced several years ago that Ben Affleck will be donning The Dark Knight's iconic cape and cowl in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the majority of fans immediately rejected the idea and understandably so. But after seeing the divisive 2016 superhero film, Affleck turned many heads with his dark and gritty take on the caped crusader and ultimately won fans over.
However, Affleck's DC Extended Universe stint didn't turn out the way people would've wanted it to. In 2019, Ben would exit the franchise and abandon his supposed The Batman project altogether, paving the way for Matt Reeves to reboot the series set outside the DCEU which now stars Robert Pattinson. Still, the clamor for Affleck to return as Batman in his own solo film has been really strong and on his birthday, fans renewed calls for it to finally happen.
Fans took to Twitter to celebrate Affleck's 49th birthday and despite all the uncertainty surrounding his DCEU status after The Flash, a lot of them are still hopeful that Warner Bros. and DC Films will change their minds about making his solo Batman film which has always been the plan. The hashtag #MakeTheBatfleckMovie even trended on the social media platform proving that the interest in the project is still there after all these years. Check out some of the tweets below:

It'll be interesting to see if WB ends up listening to the fans and greenlights the project similar to what they did with the Snyder Cut movement. I for one would love to see Affleck return but the studio has continuously let us down, so much so that I've lost all hope that we will ever see it happen. But hey, you can never say never in the world of superhero films.
The Flash is scheduled for release in November 2022.
