After being in developmental hell for years, fans of the DC Extended Universe were under the impression that Ezra Miller's solo The Flash film would ultimately get canned much like other DC projects but thankfully, Warner Bros. officially confirmed during the inaugural DC FanDome last year that the film is actually pushing through and now, production for the highly-anticipated project is underway.

It's already been confirmed that the film which also stars Ben Affleck and "potentially" Michael Keaton will draw massive inspiration from the Flashpoint story arc in the comics and rumor has it that The Flash will even be responsible for a major shakeup in the DCEU but of course, that remains to be seen.

Now, as filming for the project finally kicks off, director Andy Muschietti is expressing his excitement on social media, and to celebrate the first day of production, he unveiled the film's official logo and it's looking pretty awesome! If you'll pay closer attention to the said logo, it almost looks like a shot of Barry Allen's chest with the sparky emblem, possibly hinting that a new costume is indeed on its way as previously rumored. Check it out here:

Considering Ezra Miller's Flash was redeemed by the Snyder Cut, it'll be interesting to see how Muschietti handles the character as the 4-hour cut of Justice League pretty much proved that Barry Allen could be a major player in the DCEU. Hopefully, Andy takes a little page out of Snyder's playbook and presents Barry Allen as a stronger character despite the fact that the Snyder Cut isn't exactly considered canon.

The Flash is scheduled for release in 2022.
