DC fans went absolutely nuts last year but in a good way when it was announced that Ben Affleck will be making his full-time return to the DC Extended Universe as the Dark Knight. This comes following his Batman "retirement" in early 2019.

Affleck joined the Snyder Cut reshoots last October and he's also gearing up for an appearance in Ezra Miller's solo The Flash film which will be loosely based on the iconic Flashpoint comic. However, that could mark Batfleck's official DCEU exit and according to a new report, Batfleck is set to be retconned in the franchise.

Rumors have been swirling all over social media that Affleck's "return" was only set up to give his version of the caped crusader the send-off it deserves and there are no actual plans of having him stay in the franchise.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, DC Films President Walter Hamada may have teased Affleck's future and it doesn't sound too promising. The ever-so-controversial Hamada might have also confirmed that Michael Keaton's version of the character will become the main DCEU Batman heading forward.

Nothing has been officially announced as of writing so of course, take everything with a grain of salt. As much as I love Michael Keaton's take on Batman, I honestly don't know what they're trying to accomplish here. A 60-something-year-old Bruce Wayne would feel so out of place in the Justice League consisting of younger members. I don't know what to make of this.

That said, The Flash is set for release in 2022.
