Cowboy Bebop was created and animated by Sunrise, led by a production team of director Shinichirō Watanabe, screenwriter Keiko Nobumoto, character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, mechanical designer Kimitoshi Yamane, and composer Yoko Kanno. The anime originally ran from 1998 to 1999 and follows the lives of a travelling bounty-hunting crew aboard the spaceship the Bebop.
In 2021, a live-action series adaptation of the anime was released on Netflix. The show starred John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, and Alex Hassell as Vicious. After mixed reviews of the first season, the streaming service decided to cancel the show despite the season finale's cliffhanger ending.
Cowboy Bebop The Complete Series - 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Limited Edition and Standard Edition are now available for pre-order on Crunchyroll but will be released on April 4, 2023.
