With its long-awaited return just a month away, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure recently shared a sneak peek at Part 9 The JOJOLands, which featured a look at what seems to be the series’ protagonist.
This first official look at JOJOLands was shared via the Ultra Jump February issue. It also shares some interesting details about Part 9’s story.
This is the first time that we have gotten concrete info about the series’ story and premise.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 9 Details
Hirohiko Araki’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the longest-running manga titles from Shueisha. For reference, JoJo has been serialized since 1987, meaning it’s a decade older than One Piece.
Of course, that’s not an entirely fair comparison. While titles such as One Piece continue to be serialized weekly, JoJo is different as it is divided into multiple parts, with each featuring a new protagonist and setting.
The different parts of JoJo take place in the same timeline and universe, but that was only the case until Part 6: Stone Ocean.
Beginning with Part 7: Steel Ball Run, JoJo began a new timeline. While Part 7 still featured the signature Stands and had characters with similar names, the story takes place in a new universe.
Steel Ball Run was serialized until 2011, and it was followed by Part 8: JoJolion which was serialized until 2021.
After the longest break in the JoJo series to date, Part 9 is finally set to debut this February.
It is confirmed to be in the same timeline and universe as parts 7 and 8.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: The JOJOLands Story, Release Date
Previously, Araki shared info about JOJOLands’ protagonist, specifically how he is the descendant of Joseph Joestar.
Now though, more details about the main character and premise were shared.
In the latest Ultra Jump issue, the artwork of a new Part 9 character was shared, with many believing this to be the series’ protagonist.
While it remains to be seen if it is indeed the main character, the sneak peek confirmed that the protagonist is a boy who becomes a millionaire in the subtropical islands.
It wasn’t revealed where Part 9 will be set exactly, but the fact that it will be in subtropical islands is a good hint.
Given that the new JoJo timeline reuses locations from the first parts, JOJOLands may be set on an Italian island. This is because Italy has islands with a subtropical climate, and it was already used as a setting in previous parts.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 9: The JOJOLands will come out on February 17, 2023. The first chapter will be released in the next Ultra Jump issue.
