Christian Bale Says His Kids Convinced Him to Do Thor: Love and Thunder

Being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a dream come true for any actor right now but it looks like Christian Bale almost decided against accepting the role of Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, the Academy Award winner revealed he was ultimately convinced by his own children to portray the MCU's newest villain!

People were understandably thrilled when it was officially announced that Christian Bale had been cast as Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, there was a time when the Batman Begins actor was unsure about taking the role. Luckily, Bale's children sat their father down and made sure he would join the MCU.

Christian Bale recently spoke to Screenrant where he admitted he agreed to work on Thor: Love and Thunder because he would get to work with the right people.

"For me, it was Taika [Waititi]. I loved Thor: Ragnarok, as did my family," Bale said. We also all loved Jojo Rabbit, and then I had worked with Natalie [Portman] and wanted to work with Tessa [Thompson] and with Chris [Hemsworth]. It comes down to that, really. I just went, 'Great!' Loved the script, loved Taika's description of the villain. 'Let's go do this.'"

Although things seemed to be working out perfectly, the schedule didn't quite fit for Bale and he reconsidered the role. That's when his children stepped in.

"There were some potential scheduling conflicts. I said to my family, 'I don't think it's going to work out,' and they went, 'No, you make it work out. You're doing this, Dad.' They gave me my marching orders, and I dutifully obeyed," Bale said.

It's interesting to know that Bale's children had a say on what project he would work on. Nevertheless, we're glad the kids put their foot down and Bale ultimately gets to play one of the scariest villains in the MCU.

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres on July 8, 2022.
