Christian Bale Shares Terrifying Details about Thor: Love and Thunder Deleted Scene

People have had mixed reactions to Christian Bale's version of Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, the cast and crew have sworn up and down that the new villain is a lot scarier than what his appearance suggests. Interestingly, Bale has just revealed details about a deleted scene that was deemed too terrifying to be included in the theatrical cut!

In the comics, Gorr the God Butcher is involved in countless acts of brutality as he does exactly what his name implies: He kills gods. Given that the character is a serial killer, Gorr should be expected to get creative with the slayings and Christian Bale had a brilliant idea that would have pushed the boundaries in a Marvel Cinematic Universe project.

Bale recently spoke to Screenrant where he revealed that the movie has one scene that he had actually asked for.

"I only had absolutely one request, which was that I had referenced the Come to Daddy video by Aphex Twin," Bale said. "There's a character in it that inspired me regarding Gorr, and I did say to Taika, 'Here's the deal, I want to have the scream.' And if you see the video, you'll understand what I mean. I said, 'I want to have that scream in the film.'"

Not sure what Bale is talking about? In 1997, Aphex Twin released the terrifying music video for his song Come to Daddy which featured a number of children wearing a mask of the musician's face. The "scream" Bale is referring to includes an old lady who encounters a character simply known as The Thin Man who unhinges his massive jaws and screams in the woman's face. You'll find that scene at the 04:19 mark in the video below.

It's downright terrifying and not exactly something you would want to see in an MCU film (for most people anyway). Bale is well aware of that and didn't complain when the scene that they shot was ultimately removed from the theatrical cut.

"I do understand, but that deal wasn't kept. Because it was, again, something which was just a little too extreme perhaps for the PG-13," he said. "Might have had people running for the exits. But we did do it, and it's on the cutting room floor somewhere."

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres on July 8, 2022.
