No actor would ever want to risk losing their privacy or be type-casted for the same roles for more than a decade in their career. This is the case for Chris Evans when he would initially always reject calls for him to play as Marvel’s Captain America. However, after his last appearance in the MCU, the actor reminisces and defines it as ‘a big risk that paid off’ for him.
Recently speaking with People Magazine, aside from talking about his latest achievement of becoming the Sexiest Man Alive awardee of 2022, he looks back at the time he couldn’t decide whether or not he should take the job as Marvel’s Steve Rogers. He shares that despite it being a difficult choice to make for himself, he also notes it ended up being ‘the best decision of his life.’ You can check out his full story below:
“An early risk was saying yes to Captain America. I said no to it a couple of times and was really nervous about taking the job and it ended up being the best decision of my life. I can’t even imagine what my life would’ve been like without it, so that was a big risk that paid off. Oh my God, you’d be a real jerk not to enjoy it.”
The actor continues to share his experience working on Marvel Studios as Steve Rogers / Captain America. He compares it to the time when he would run around in his backyard, believing himself to be ‘flying around’ and ‘saving people’ in a costume.
"You get paid to take care of yourself and I mean, this is like what you do as a kid. You run around your backyard and pretend to be a comic book character, so it’s been one of the greatest joys in my life being able to kind of dive in and prepare for these movies.”
With that said, Captain America 4 is currently in development.
