Lightyear Star Chris Evans Reveals What He Misses Most About Playing Captain America

Just when we thought Chris Evans is finally over with superhero roles, he is set to star in another as the fan-beloved Buzz Lightyear, in the upcoming Toy Story spinoff, Lightyear. The upcoming film follows the Space Ranger's origin story, and how he flees from an alien planet and the villainous Emperor Zurg.

Now that Evans is set to play another exhilarating role, it's hard not to wonder if Evans somehow miss playing his most celebrated role in his lifelong career, Steve Rogers, a character he played for a decade.

In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Lightyear star Chris Evans opens up about what he misses most about playing the fan-beloved Marvel superhero, Captain America.

Evans noted that aside from missing the character, he also misses the people behind that make Captain America possible. “You know, it’s different. It’s different." Evans said. "For ten years, you always have a movie around the corner. For ten years… it’s always, you finish one and your life is scheduled by, ‘Okay, six months, we have press. Six more months, we start up on the next movie.’ To kind of have open waters, there’s parts of it that are nice and there are parts of it that I really, really miss, because it was a role that meant a lot to me. And I love those people and, you know, it’ll be the best ten years of my professional life without any question forever.”

Gladly, these moments are the main reason why fans adored Chris Evans, for his appreciation for his co-stars and even the crews that are behind the camera. Playing the same character for ten years, it might get confusing at times, but it seems that there are people who help Evans get through tough times. More importantly, these people are also the reason why Captain America transpired on the big screens, and why his legacy would still leave a monumental impact on the MCU’s future even after his retirement.

More recently, Evans shared a very cryptic comment about his potential return. In an interview, he said, "That role means so much to me. So, to revisit it, it would be a tall order.” Fans would undoubtedly die to see Evans reprise the character, however, for now, it seems to be highly unlikely considering that the MCU now found their new Captain America with Anthony Mackie’s Falcon.

For now, we can catch Chris Evans as the fan-favorite Space Ranger in Lightyear, hitting the big screens on June 17.
