Choi Woo Shik surely had a warm return in Our Beloved Summer years after being away from cameras.

Choi Woo Shik had not had a new project following his 2017 Fight for My Way the Witch: Subversion. He had to wait for years before he was able to score the lead role in the SBS hit series, Our Beloved Summer.

Premiered in 2021, the series tells the story of Choi Woo Shik's Choi Ung and Kim Da Mi's Guk Yeon Soo, who had a brief relationship in high school that did not end in a good way. A decade after filming their high school documentary, they meet again to appear in front of the camera again.

Following the success of the series, the actor spoke candidly about the drama and the chemistry he shared with the actress.

As to how they were able to establish an ideal connection, Choi Woo Shik explained:

"In romantic comedies and emotional romance dramas, chemistry with the other person is important, so I was excited to show off new chemistry in this drama. I was confident for some reason, and I thought, 'I can do better than I did in 'The Witch: Subversion.' I think this is because I am comfortable with Da Mi."

Although he was comfortable working with Kim Da Mi, he also reportedly felt a little shy, especially when they expressed physical affection because of their characters. Luckily, he was able to overcome that as the actress acts more like her character, Yeon Soo, while on set.
